Claude Debussy

Berceuse heroique (1914)

arranged for symphonic brass ensemble by Dale Sorensen

Composed as a tribute to King Albert I of Belgium after their invasion by Germany, Debussy's Berceuse heroique is generally sombre in character, featuring solemn fanfares (with echoes by an off-stage trumpet) and a brief quote of the Belgian national anthem La Brabançonne.

Instrumentation: 4 trumpets, 4 horns, 3 trombones, euphonium, tuba, and optional percussion.
